What is AWS Class ER312 MIG and TIG Filler Metal ?

AWS Class ER312 MIG and TIG filler welding wires and rods are intended to use in welding dissimilar metals: e.g. austenitic stainless steel to carbon or low-alloy steel, etc. They have a typical chemical composition of C 0.08-0.15, Cr 24-26, Ni 12-14, Mn 1-2, and Si less than 0.75 with a balance of Fe which provide excellent corrosion and heat resistance. Mechanical characteristics include tensile strength of 520-580 Mpa, and yield strength of 205-350 Mpa with an elongation of 30-40 which gives it strong and durable welds. ER312 filler metals are stable arc performance, easy to weld, and crack free joints to be used in MIG and TIG welding.
