What is AWS Class ER80S-B6 MIG and TIG Filler Metal ?

AWS Class ER80S-B6 MIG and TIG filler rods and welding wire, is made to be used in welding 5Cr-0.5Mo steels that are employed in high temperature services. Their common chemical components are 0.05-0.15 percent carbon, 0.40-0.70 percent manganese, 0.50-0.80 percent silicon, 4.50-6.00 percent chromium, and 0.40-0.65 percent molybdenum, low level of sulfur and phosphorus. Mechanically, they have tensile strength of 620-760 Mpa, yield strength of 500-600 Mpa and elongation of around 20 percent. The properties guarantee high creep strength, oxidation resistance and stability at high temperatures making ER80S-B6 suitable in welding of heat resistant steels in boilers, power plants and petrochemical system.

AWS Class ER80S-B6 MIG and TIG filler rods and welding wire are mostly applied in the welding of 5-percent chromium, 0.5-percent molybdenum steel that works under high temperature and pressure circumstances. They are commonly used in power production, refinery and petrochemical sectors to manufacture and repair boilers, heat exchangers, pressure vessels and piping systems. ER80S-B6 has very good creep strength, oxidation resistance, and thermal stability so that it is suitable to operate at temperatures up to 600 o C. It has high quality weld and toughness and can be reliably used in the critical areas like steam lines, headers and furnace component where long lasting durability and ability to resist heat is a must.
