AWS Class ER317L SAW electrodes and flux are designed for welding austenitic stainless steels with enhanced corrosion resistance. The typical chemical composition includes 18–20% Chromium, 11–13% Nickel, 2–3% Molybdenum, and low Carbon (<0.03%) to minimize carbide precipitation. Mechanically, ER317L welds offer tensile strength around 550–700 MPa, yield strength approximately 310–450 MPa, and elongation of 30–40%, ensuring excellent ductility and toughness. The compatible flux promotes stable arc, smooth bead appearance, and minimal spatter. This combination provides superior resistance to pitting, crevice, and general corrosion, ideal for chemical, petrochemical, and marine applications.
