What is AWS Class ER385 MIG and TIG Filler Metal ?
AWS Class ER385 MIG and TIG filler welding wire and rods are used to fill stainless steels (high alloy, in particular, Type 904L). They are usually made of 0.02% carbon, 19-21% chromium, 24-26% nickel, 4-5% molybdenum, 1-2% copper and low levels of silicon and manganese, which give excellent pitting, crevice and overall corrosion resistance. ER385 is mechanically characterized by tensile that is 550-750 Mpa, yield that is approximately 350-480 Mpa and elongation that is 30-40%. Such properties guarantee strong, ductile, and corrosive resistant welds that can be used in the complicated chemical, marine, and pharmaceutical industries.
