What is AWS Class ER4043?
AWS Class ER4043 is an aluminum-silicon (Al-Si) welding alloy, primarily composed of approximately 5% silicon with the balance being aluminum, offering excellent corrosion resistance and reduced cracking susceptibility. It provides good fluidity and smooth weld appearance, making it ideal for joining aluminum and aluminum alloys. Mechanically, ER4043 exhibits a tensile strength of around 175–220 MPa and a yield strength of 110–150 MPa, with elongation typically between 6–10%. Its combination of moderate strength, high corrosion resistance, and excellent weldability makes it widely used in automotive, marine, and general fabrication applications.
