What is AWS Class EB6 SAW & Flux?
AWS Class EB6 SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) electrodes and flux are designed for high-strength steel welding. Chemically, EB6 typically contains 0.06–0.12% C, 0.50–0.80% Mn, ≤0.03% S, and ≤0.03% P, ensuring low impurities and excellent weld quality. The flux complements the electrode, stabilizing the arc and improving slag removal. Mechanically, welds exhibit tensile strength of 560–620 MPa, yield strength around 460 MPa, and elongation of 22–26%, providing strong, ductile joints. These properties make AWS EB6 ideal for structural steel applications, offering consistent performance, deep penetration, and minimal spatter for industrial welding projects.
