What is AWS Class E8018-B2 Coated Electrodes?
AWS Class E8018-B2 coated electrodes are low-hydrogen, iron powder type electrodes designed for welding 1.25% Cr – 0.5% Mo steels used in high-temperature and pressure applications. Their typical chemical composition includes Carbon (≤0.12%), Manganese (0.40–0.65%), Chromium (1.00–1.50%), and Molybdenum (0.40–0.65%). These electrodes deliver excellent creep resistance and toughness. Mechanical properties include a tensile strength of 550–690 MPa, yield strength of ≥460 MPa, and elongation of ~20%. They also provide good impact strength and resistance to hydrogen-induced cracking, making them suitable for critical weld joints.
