What is AWS Class E630-16 Coated Electrodes?

AWS Class E630-16 coated electrodes are designed for welding precipitation-hardening stainless steels such as 17-4 PH. Their typical chemical composition includes chromium (15–17%), nickel (4–5%), copper (3–5%), niobium + tantalum (0.15–0.45%), and iron as the balance, ensuring corrosion resistance and high strength. Mechanical properties after proper heat treatment include tensile strength of about 850–1000 MPa, yield strength around 700–850 MPa, and elongation of 15–20%. These electrodes provide excellent toughness, crack resistance, and wear resistance, making them suitable for critical structural and industrial applications.
